Conditions of Use

The Community Dishes project is run by volunteers with a passion for less waste, less stuff and growing community. We want to be able to make the kit available for as many people as possible to enjoy. We do not charge anything for people to borrow our kit; all we ask is that you please agree to follow our guidelines.

Summary of terms

“Borrower” – the person, group or business who has agreed to borrow the dishes within a defined timeframe.

“Community Dishes” – also referred to as the “Kit”; the crockery, cutlery, glassware and custom storage boxes that are loaned out.

“Items” – the components of the Community Dishes kit.

 “Kit” – the Community Dishes kit, which is the crockery, cutlery, glassware and custom storage boxes.

“We” – the Community Dishes project members who administer the kit.

Borrowing

All items must be collected from Lathlain (Town of Victoria Park, WA) at the agreed time, and returned following use at the agreed time.

Items are packed in boxes of 25, and boxes cannot be split for loan.

Items are loaned clean and ready-for-use in complete boxes.The Community Dishes project accept no responsibility for items found to be dirty or missing once the kit has been collected for borrowing.

All borrowed items must be returned washed, dried, clean and ready for re-use, in the supplied boxes.

Should items be found to require cleaning prior to borrower use, we apologise for this but are unable to clean the items, and still require that items be returned to us in clean condition.

Any missing or broken items must be replaced exactly at the time of return, alternatively a breakage fee of $6 per item may be paid in lieu of replacing the item.

Damaged boxes must also be paid for in full. Replacement costs for boxes are:

  • Cutlery, Polysafe glasses, drinking glass jar, bistro plate boxes: $45 each
  • Mug boxes $55 each
  • Rice bowl boxes $80 each

Suitable Use

The forks, knives, dessert spoons, teaspoons, bistro plates, rice bowls, mugs and drinking jars are all dishwasher safe and microwave safe.

The 488ml glass drinking jars are not suitable for hot liquids, and must be used for cold items only.

The Polysafe 285ml middy glasses are not suitable for hot liquids, and must be used for cold items only. They will scratch easily and must not be cleaned with scourers or metal scrubbers.

Damaged, broken and Missing items

The condition of items should be checked at the time of return in the presence of the borrower. However, if this is not possible or does not happen, the project members maintain the right to contact the borrower within 7 days with details of missing or broken items, and request that replacements be found. The borrower agrees to pay for the cost of any items in need of replacing.
